Community Impact · Charity in Bloom
$1,351.25 and Counting.
Northern Nevada, You Did That.
We thought we’d have to explain what the Nevada Women’s Fund does. We didn’t. Every single person who brought home a Charity in Bloom arrangement already knew.
After being introduced to this organization by Ashley Bernard, we knew immediately they were the perfect partner. Thanks to your incredible support, we are honored to present a check for:
$1,351.25
They knew because someone in their orbit - a neighbor, a friend, a coworker who runs circles around everyone in the room - is exactly the kind of woman this organization exists to support. They didn’t buy a bouquet. They funded a scholarship for the person who’s been showing up, putting in the work, and refusing to stop.
Here is what "Local Impact" actually looks like in our community.
1. What NWF Actually Does (And Why It Matters)
The Nevada Women’s Fund has been investing in Northern Nevada women since 1982. Not in a vague, feel-good way - in a specific, write-a-check-and-change-a-trajectory way.
Through scholarships, leadership programs, and community grants, they fund adult women who are working full-time, raising families, and still making time to finish a degree. But it doesn't stop at traditional academic degrees.
The Nevada Women’s Fund also provides vital support for individuals pursuing education and training pathways outside the traditional box - including certificate programs, trade or vocational training, continuing education, and professional development or licensing. That’s the "community" we’re talking about. Not a concept. A person. Sitting in a classroom after a full shift, because she’s building something bigger.
2. A Team of Women
This partnership hits home for us in a very literal way. With 20 out of the 23 members on our team being women, we see the dedication, talent, and impact of women in our local workforce every single day.
Supporting an organization that champions the success of women isn't just a "good cause" - it's a reflection of who we are as a business and who makes this community run.
3. The Arrangement That Started It All
This season’s featured Charity in Bloom arrangement brought the Nevada Women’s Fund’s identity to life - bold, structured, and utterly unwilling to blend into the background. Think deep jewel tones, lush texture, and the kind of design presence that says "I know my worth and so does everyone in this room."
$45 from every $180 arrangement went directly to the Nevada Women’s Fund. And for those who added Champagne and Chocolate’s handmade truffles - 25% of that purchase went right alongside it.
4. This Is What "Local" Actually Means
It would be very easy to say we’re "proud to support our community" and call it a day. That’s not what this is.
This is a florist in Sparks, Nevada - family-owned since 1960 - partnering with an organization that has quietly, consistently funded the potential sitting right here in our zip codes. It’s a Northern Nevada woman walking up to graduate in a cap and gown, holding a scholarship that started with someone choosing flowers on purpose.
5. Beyond the Visual: The "Salute"
My appreciation for this mission grew deeply in 2023 when my sister, Jennifer Walters, was recognized as a Salute to Women of Achievement honoree.
Attending that luncheon was an eye-opening experience. It is a truly unique venue - perhaps the only one of its kind in our community - where employers can publicly celebrate the women in their workplace and provide them with the recognition and dignity they so richly deserve. Watching my sister be honored alongside so many other inspiring women made me a lifelong believer in this work.
Our Gratitude
To Ila and the Nevada Women’s Fund Team: Thank you for ensuring the women of Nevada are seen, celebrated, and supported. It is an honor to be even a small part of that impact.
To everyone who donated to our Charity in Bloom campaign: Thank you. You didn't just purchase beautiful flowers; you helped fund a woman’s future right here in Northern Nevada.
We invite you to follow @nevadawomensfund to see the incredible work they are doing, and @sparksflorist to watch for our next Charity in Bloom partner.
